Requirements

 

Zaiger sectional gates are manufactured according to the individual embrasure dimensions only after the necessary design analysis has been made. The basic requirements to the embrasure are:

-          plane surface of wall along the whole embrasure perimeter on the inside of the floor area;

-          correspondence of wall and lintel dimensions to minimal values necessary for fastening the guides and torsion mechanisms;

-          carrying capacity of materials of which the wall framing the embrasure and ceiling is made (if the wall in which the embrasure is to be cut is made of such materials as foamed concrete blocks, hollow bricks, or sandwich-panels, the embrasure needs framing with metal, and in some cases it will be required to install a metal frame).

 Consider the embrasure design.

В - embrasure width;

h –lintel, i.e., lintel height or distance between the top edge of the embrasure and the ceiling;

b1,b2 – distances from side walls to side embrasure edges.

E –floor area depth

 

 

 

 

In designing gate installation, the following restrictions should be taken into account:

h –from 180 mm;

b1,b2 –from 110 (from 150) mm.

 

 

Besides, it is desirable that the depth of the garage should be no less than the gate height + 800 mm. If the value of h is not sufficient for mounting the guides, installing in the embrasure a falsepanel that is mounted in the gate embrasure and decreases embrasure height can increase the lintel. The falsepanel is made of a sandwich-panel of the same colour as the gate leaf and is framed with aluminium profile.

 

Besides, if it is required to decrease the embrasure, installing a falsepanel allows fastening guides with standard lift instead of with low lift (see Section “Types of Lifts”).

If the ceiling in the building where it is planned to install sectional gates has a backward slope, then the calculated size of lintel that will affect the choice of type of lift of sectional gates should be defined as the distance from embrasure top to the ceiling at the depth approximately equal to horizontal guides length (see the Fig.), that is, the value of calculated lintel size is equal to Hпр and not to Hн.

 

It is optimal, in order to make gate construction cheaper already at the stage of embrasure designing, to set the value of h within the range 350 to 550 mm, since for lintel from 180 to 350mm or more than 550mm, use is made of more expensive design of mounting, with diminished or enhanced lifts, respectively.
